Abby Mercado is an investment professional with Altira Group, a Denver-based venture capital firm that works closely with entrepreneurs to provide funding for emerging oil & gas software, equipment and technology-advantaged service companies. At Altira, she evaluates and executes new investment opportunities and plays a hands-on, business building role with the firm’s current portfolio companies. She observes on the boards of Infrastructure Networks, ThoughtTrace and ResFrac.

Prior to joining Altira, Ms. Mercado spent five years with Triangle Petroleum Corporation, a vertically integrated, Bakken-focused oil & gas company (now Nine Point Energy). During her time at Triangle, she wore many hats, the primary of which was leading business development efforts for the midstream affiliate, Caliber Midstream.

Ms. Mercado began her career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she served in their investment banking group, assisting in the structuring of mergers and acquisitions and the underwriting of debt and equity securities.

Ms. Mercado earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Bachelor of Science degree in human and organizational development from Vanderbilt University. She is on the Associate Board of ACE Scholarships (Executive Committee), the COGA EnGen Program Advisory Committee and the Leadership Board of Energy Tech Edge. She is also an angel investor in the Colorado start-up community.

Catalina Herrera is the Director of Education and Enablement at ThoughtTrace and is responsible for the overall technical go-to-market strategy for the ThoughtTrace  portfolio.

Ms. Herrera brings over 10 years of experience in data analysis, Big Data and analytics. Her experience includes time with Texas Instruments and TIBCO where she was one of the top Solutions Consultants for Analytics, supporting Fortune 100 companies across multiple industries, including Energy, Manufacturing, and Finance. Her passion for Analytics has impacted her customers' bottom lines and helped them mature in their Analytics and digital transformation initiatives.

Ms. Herrera holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Escuela Colombiana de Ingenieria, a Master of Science in Electronics and Computers from Universidad de Los Andes, a Master of Science in Engineering Technology from West Texas A&M University, and a Master of Science in Advanced Electronic Systems Engineering from Texas Tech University.
